  • Why KenaiGlacier.jpg
The Kenai Peninsula Borough is 90% wilderness, so if it’s mountains and glaciers or
wildlife and fishing that interest you, come to the Kenai Peninsula.

View four active volcanoes from one stretch of highway. Mt. Spurr, Mt. Redoubt, Mt. Illiamna and St. Augustine all may be viewed from the shore of the Kenai Peninsula.

The Kenai has four major wildlife protected areas: Chugach National Forest, Kenai Fjords National Park, Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, and Kachemak State Park. Enter into any one of these pristine wilderness areas to see the true beauty of wild Alaska.

Home to spawning salmon, these rivers and lakes can be explored by rafting, fishing boat, canoe or kayak, or by the many beautiful trails along the shores. Any time of the summer is salmon fishing season on the Kenai. The largest King Salmon of all, weighing close to 100 pounds The Kenai Peninsula is home to Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, and Arctic Grayling, for fly fishing at its best

  • When Peninsula.jpgMay 1st to June 15th and August 15th to September 30th are the most economical times to visit. Alaska is known world wide for it's fishing which makes the July period congested with those in search of the giant King Salmon, so if its fishing your looking for make your reservation well in advance. Late August through September also offer great fishing opportunities for Silver Salmon, Halibut and Trout. Wildlife viewing is excellent year round, and especially good in the early spring and fall periods.
  • What to seeKachemack-Bay.jpgThe enormous size of the state of Alaska is hard to imagine until you’ve been here, so planning is a must unless you prefer spending your entire vacation driving. Trying to see Alaska in a week is like planning to visit California, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Arizona, Texas, and New Mexico in 7 days. Most visitors return three or more time to take in all of Alaska. We suggest starting your Alaskan Adventure on the Kenai Peninsula, which is bigger than many states in the lower 48, but certainly doable in 7 to ten days. Alaskan Playground Vacations is located in the central peninsula area and are trained vacation planner can help you with a plan to see it all at a leisurely pace. From the Glaciers and Whales in Seward, to the Bears and Fishing in the Kenai-Soldotna area. Then moving to the southern tip at Homer for Cultural, Arts, and Marine Wildlife.
